After I have opened my account, how do I make calls using Equitalk ?

After you pick up the handset, simply dial the code 1664 followed by the number you wish to dial.

For example, if you want to call 0207 123 4567 using Equitalk, dial 1664 0207 123 4567.

If you would like to request an Equitalk SmartBox (that automatically dials 1664 when Equitalk can give you the greatest savings), please send us an email at customer.service@equitalk.co.uk (with 'SmartBox Please' as the title).

What should I hear when I dial 1664 ?

After dialing 1664, if your account is Active and running correctly, you will hear nothing (i.e. silence) and may dial the rest of the phone number. There is no need to pause after dialling 1664.

If there is a problem with your account (e.g. we have suspended it as you have exceeded your credit limit), you will hear a message, "Welcome to MCI Worldcom. Unfortunately your number is not registered…". You may check what the problem is by viewing the information on the web site by selecting the menu item ‘Your Account’.

Can you stop other people in my house using my Equitalk account to make calls ?

No. We are not able to stop anyone who has access to any of your phones (that you have set up in your account) dialing the code 1664 and making calls using your Equitalk account.

If you believe people are wrongfully making calls without your authorisation we strongly suggest that you restrict access to the phone(s) in question, remove those phone numbers from your account or close your Equitalk account. You are responsible for paying the bill for all calls made on the phones that you have set up in your Equitalk account until we are able to close the account for you.
