Installing your SmartBox

Please follow the steps below to install and programme your SmartBox.

Step 1 - Unplug the telephone you use to make the most calls from its BT socket.

Step 2 - Plug the SmartBox cable into the BT socket.

Step 3 - Plug your phone into the SmartBox.

Step 4 - Lift up the telephone handset. The red light on the front of the SmartBox will light up and you will hear a tune, followed by dial tone.

Step 5 - Replace the handset. The red light on the SmartBox will go out once the handset has been replaced. Within 10 seconds the red light will come back on and start flashing approximately once a second. The SmartBox has made a call to Equitalk to receive the latest call routing information. (Please note, you will not be charged for this call).

While the SmartBox is receiving information, the red light flashes approximately twice a second. During the time it takes the SmartBox to programme (about 4 minutes), the handset should not be lifted as it would interrupt the process.

(However, if you have to use the phone while the SmartBox light is flashing, lift the handset and press any digit, then hang up. Lift the handset again and dial as normal.
The SmartBox will automatically program itself once your call is completed).

Step 6 - When the red light goes out, the SmartBox is programmed and ready for use. Now when the receiver is lifted, only dial tone will be heard.
