No.

Do I need to change my phone number or phone supplier ?

If you have a BT line you keep your phone number and BT line (for which you pay BT line rental) and still have the option of using BT to make calls and using BT services, such as Directory Enquiries.

You may only use Equitalk from a BT line so if you have a cable line you need to change it to BT to be able to use Equitalk.

I have been able to make calls successfully using Equitalk but can’t any more – what should I do ?

First check your account status by clicking on the menu item ‘Your Account’ and entering your Account ID and password. On the page ‘Your Account’ the Account Status should be ‘Active’. If your Account Status is 'Nopaymeth', we have had to suspend service to you as we have been unable to collect payment. Please check and update your payment details and we will automatically recollect you once we have collected payment (this may take a few days).

If you believe that your payment details are correct, then please click here to report the problem. Please be sure to include your name and Account ID.

What are non-geographic and premium rated numbers ?

These are phone numbers that not related to a fixed location. For example if you dial 0121 you know you are calling Birmingham, but with non-geographic and premium rated numbers you do not know where the call is going.

Chat lines, competition lines, pagers, mobile phones and internet access numbers are all examples of these types of numbers. They are charged at a wide variety of rates, as set by the companies providing the services.
