We are committed to
protecting your privacy. We will only use the information that we
collect about you lawfully (in accordance with the Data Protection
Act 1998).
Why we collect data
We collect information in
order to provide you with the phone services you have specifically
requested and to provide you with information regarding Equitalk
services. You specifically authorise us to retain, process and use
any data (including personal data as defined in the Data
Protection Act 1998) for any purpose required or reasonably
incidental to the provision of the Service.
When
do we collect data & what data do we collect?
Information is collected when:
- you
join Equitalk or update your account (such as name, address
and phone number)
- you
make a phone call, in order to bill you for the services you
use (originating number, destination number, call start time,
call end time)
- we
collect payment from you
We
may use technology to track who you have been referred by. This
can include using a "cookie" which would be stored on
your browser. You can usually modify your browser to prevent this
happening.
We will never collect sensitive information about you without your
explicit consent.
Who
do we share your data with?
We only share information with our
suppliers in order to provide you with Equitalk services. The
principal information we share with third parties is:
- your
phone number (to activate your account on the telephone
network)
- your
payment details and history (in order to collect payment)
- your
wish to use the Service (including your wish for us to
disconnect you from other similar suppliers)
We do not show
your personal or payment details to anyone that you may have been
referred by. The only information Referrers may see is their :
- number
of Level 1 Referrals
- total
number of combined Level 2, 3 and 4 Referrals
- the
total value of Referral Programme Credits they have earned
Access
to data & accuracy of data
You have an obligation to provide us with up to date information
about yourself (name, address, phone number, payment details and
email address). The information we hold will be accurate and up to
date but we rely on you to update any of your details if they
change. You can check the information that we hold about you by
logging in to Your Account at any time. If you find any
inaccuracies you may correct the error or contact us and we will
delete or correct it promptly.
Data security
The
personal information which we hold will be held securely in
accordance with our internal security policy and the law.
If we intend to transfer your information outside the EEA
(European Economic Area) we will always obtain your consent first.
Email
communications
We will send a copy of your
monthly statement to the email address you have provided us with
once every month (before we collect payment). We will send you
notification of any changes to Equitalk Terms & Conditions by
email (as we are obliged to do by our Terms & Conditions). If
you wish to have an Equitalk account, you may not Opt Out of
receiving either of these emails (other than by closing your
account).
From time to time we will email you with information about the
Equitalk service that we believe you will be interested in. This
may include special offers, news, promotions and changes to
pricing. If you DO NOT wish to receive these emails you may opt
out by sending us an email ( customer.service@equitalk.co.uk
) or by unchecking the Opt In option in Your Account.
We will not e-mail you in the future unless you have given us your
consent. We will give you the chance to refuse any marketing email
from us in the future.
